Have you been longing for a pickup truck for those trips to the dump? Looking for a scooter to help save gas on the commute? Or a first car for your teen? The Bainbridge Island Rotary Auction and Rummage Sale may have just what you are looking for coming up on June 29.
Do you have a vehicle or boat to donate? Call Jim at 206-842-2093 or Jay at 206-919-5376. We can accept your vehicle donation now and store it until the Auction.
Since its beginning in 1960, the annual Rotary Auction has received and sold hundreds of vehicles. Proceeds from the Auction go to support the Rotary club’s activities. Turning metal into gold results in everything from Island recreation projects to microfinance in the developing world.
In the past types of vehicles donated include autos, pickup trucks, SUVs, convertibles, flatbed trucks, campers, camper trailers, golf carts, motor bikes, motor scooters. Vehicles are sold on a silent auction, which can become a live auction if there are two or more persons contending at the closing time.
Pickup trucks are the most popular vehicles sold. A couple of years ago a person bought a Lexus as a graduation gift for her grandson. What a grandmother! One person’s gas hog is another person’s treasure. Did we ever have a donated vehicle that didn’t sell? Yes, it was a car that wouldn’t back up.
This year a youth crew from Bainbridge High School is going to help by detailing the donated vehicles. Detailing services are just the beginning for the Club’s new youth mentoring program.
Do you have a CAR or BOAT you have been thinking of donating to the Auction? Now is the time. We accept vehicles that are in safe and running condition. We take care of the paperwork, and you can get a tax credit for the amount your vehicle sells for at the Auction.
Please donate your rummage items at Woodward School from June 21-26. Rotary Auction festivities begin with the Preview on Friday, June 28 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Rummage Sale is Saturday, June 29, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
